True or False

In my Bible study, I came across Romans 12:3 (CSB): "For by the grace given to me, I tell everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he should think. Instead, think sensibly, as God has distributed a measure of faith to each one."

What caught my attention was “God has distributed a measure of faith to each one.” Was the Bible asking me to be honest with myself? You would think that as Christians, our honesty with ourselves would be automatic. But what about our strengths? What about our weaknesses? What about our Christian character? If I cannot be honest with myself, I will struggle to be honest with others and with God.

1 Chronicles 29:17 (CSB) says: "I know, my God, that you test the heart and that you are pleased with what is right. I have willingly given all these things with an upright heart, and now I have seen your people who are present here giving joyfully and willingly to you."

This verse tells me that my heart is tested. God gave me faith. Have I stayed the same? Have I honestly let God into my heart and continually worked on making my faith stronger?

Do we ever tell ourselves that our faith is strong? We might make that statement based on the fact that we have been Christians for a long time. This can be a false narrative. How? If we have been in the church for a long time and we do not sound different, act different, or more importantly, know our Bible more, then time has done very little for increasing our spirituality.

The Bible spells out results like this:

Matthew 7:16 (CSB): "You’ll recognize them by their fruit. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes or figs from thistles?"

The results are clear. Others will see them, we can see them, and more importantly, God sees them. Let’s all take a second and admit who we truly are.

If we have not been honest with ourselves, it’s never too late to start. Look into your spiritual mirror right now and read this verse:

2 Corinthians 13:5 (CSB): "Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith. Examine yourselves. Or do you yourselves not recognize that Jesus Christ is in you? —unless you fail the test."

This test is True or False.
